Governance is the policy, security, and financial control plane for AI agents. It enforces enterprise guardrails independently of agent logic, ensuring actions remain compliant with organizational policies, access controls, and budget constraints.

Why Governance Is Required

Unlike traditional software, autonomous AI agents dynamically select tools, invoke services, and make decisions during execution.

Because their behavior cannot be fully predicted in advance, governance cannot rely solely on prompts or embedded instructions. Guidance such as “Do not disclose PII” or “Limit API usage” may be bypassed by prompt injection, unexpected model behavior, or recursive execution loops.

Governance addresses this challenge by introducing an independent policy layer between agents and external systems. Every action can be evaluated, logged, and intercepted before execution, ensuring consistent enforcement of enterprise policies.
