Oracle Schema To DataTable

Estimated reading: 3 minutes

The Oracle Query Runner component connects to an Oracle database and executes SQL queries. It allows you to read, add, update, or delete data, and returns the results in a structured format for use in a workflow.

It establishes a secure connection to the database, runs SQL statements, and retrieves results in multiple output formats — enabling integration between Robility workflows and Oracle databases for both data retrieval and data modification.

Supported SQL Operations

Operation Description
SELECT Retrieve structured data from one or more tables.
INSERT Add new records into database tables.
UPDATE Modify existing records based on conditions.
DELETE Remove records from tables.
DDL (Data Definition Language) Perform structural operations such as CREATE, DROP, and ALTER (based on permissions).

Prerequisites

Requirement Details
Database connection details A valid Oracle database address (host, port, and service name/SID) along with login credentials (username and password).
Network access The system must be able to reach the Oracle database over the required network and port (commonly 1521).
Required permissions The database user must have appropriate privileges to read or modify data in the required tables, depending on the intended operations.

Parameters

Parameter Description
Connection String The Oracle database connection details needed to establish a connection: host, port, service name, username, and password.

Format: username/password@hostname:port/service_name
SQL Query The SQL statement to execute against the connected database, such as SELECT * FROM employees.

In Tool Mode, the query can be executed dynamically as part of an agent-driven workflow, generated or passed by the agent at runtime based on the user's request.
Output Format Determines how query results are returned.

DATA
JSON
DATAFRAME
MESSAGE
Allow Destructive Operations (Toggle) Disabled by default.

When enabled, allows execution of potentially destructive SQL operations such as DROP and TRUNCATE, which can permanently remove data or database structures.
Actions Displays the slug name of the selected table(s). Visible only when the workflow is running in Tool Mode.

⚠️ Caution: Only enable Allow Destructive Operations when necessary. DROP and TRUNCATE statements cannot be undone and may result in permanent data loss.

Output

Output Description
Execute Query Runs the SQL query and returns the result for downstream processing within the workflow.
View Data Displays the query result for preview and analysis purposes and is not intended for further processing.

Note: Selecting an Output Format activates the corresponding pair of outputs for Execute Query and View Data. Only the output pair associated with the selected format is active at a time.

When to Use This Component

Use Oracle Query Runner when your workflow needs to:

a. Fetch live data from Oracle tables (e.g., reports, lookups, dashboards)
b. Insert, update, or delete records as part of an automated process
c. Let an AI agent query or modify a database dynamically (Tool Mode)
d. Return query results in a specific format (Data, JSON, DataFrame, or Message) for downstream steps
